Questions people ask
What is a network camera?
A camera that connects to a network — wired or Wi-Fi — and sends its video as data, so you can view, record, and manage it from any authorized device rather than a dedicated monitor.
Do network cameras need the internet to record?
No. Cameras recording to a local recorder or memory card keep working offline. Internet is needed only for remote viewing and cloud storage.
Are IP cameras easy to hack?
Unsecured ones are — default passwords and old firmware are the common ways in. A camera with a unique password, current firmware, and no unnecessary internet exposure is a hard target. This page is educational, not professional security advice for high-risk settings.
